Ashby Netball club has completed a 75-hour Netball Marathon in the name of Kids’ Village. The Club had previously done a 72 hour netball marathon 2 years ago, raising £18,000 for Kids’ Village.
The Netball Marathon has officially come to an end after running from 10am on the 20th February to 1pm on Sunday the 23rd February. The 75-hour challenge saw 261 players and 20 officials come together over four days to push their limits, supported by over 100 volunteers and spectators all in the name of Kids’ Village. Thanks to the dedication and generosity of players, supporters, and sponsors, the event has raised an incredible £56,000 and counting.
The participants not only endured an intense sporting challenge but also broke three world records, including:
• Most goals scored in 60 minutes: 1,564
• Most goals scored in 3 minutes: 97
• Most goals scored in 1 minute by an individual (Imogen Talbot): 49
The funds raised will go towards building Kids’ Village, a holiday village for critically ill children and their families to have a week long, free of charge break. The Netball Marathon was more than just an endurance test—it was a testament to the power of teamwork, community spirit, and a shared commitment to giving back.
Katrina Cooke, CEO of Kids’ Village said:
We are so grateful for the support we have received by the Ashby Netball Team, and everyone who took part. From the players who gave it their all on the court to the donors and volunteers who made this event possible, we cannot thank everyone enough. This event has not only raised significant funds but also brought people together in an unforgettable way.
Carla Garey, organizer of the event said:
I couldn’t be more proud of the team work, and every one that supported us, and the magnitude of what we achieved.
The success of the Netball Marathon wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of all involved. The Headline Sponsors, Saffron Catering and McVities were a huge part of making this challenge a reality and a big thanks goes to all the other sponsors who gave funds or services to the event along the way.
