The inaugural One More Lap for Kids’ Village took place on Sunday 15th September at Stowe Pool in Lichfield.
One More Lap for Kids’ Village was Lichfield’s first ever ultramarathon event and saw teams run laps of Stowe Pool as a relay continuously for 12 hours.
Congratulations to the winning team from Hednesford Running Club who completed 145 laps in the 12 hour period. That’s over 108 miles run in 12 hours!
Just six laps behind, in second place, was the WIP Running Club with 139 laps. And completing the podium in third place was the Marketing Run Club on 132 laps.
Teams fundraised for Kids’ Village via sponsorship and together with corporate sponsors, raised a total of £19,135 for Kids’ Village. The funds raised will go towards the charity’s capital appeal to raise £5m to build the UK’s first holiday village exclusively for critically ill children and their families to enjoy a magical respite holiday at 30 acre site in Staffordshire.

A huge thanks to everyone who helped make this happen. To our brilliant sponsors Boots Opticians Lichfield, The Marketing Meetup, Connexica and Howden Lichfield. To our amazing volunteers, across the day, for making everything run smoothly and to our incredible runners who made it such an unforgettable day and raised £19,135.

Huge thanks to the event organiser Ian Covey who volunteered a huge amount of time personally to make the event the success that it was. Even the torrential rain didn’t dampen spirits! Bring on 2025!
